About Me
Sarita Rao is an Indian classical singer from Rajasthan, based in Jaipur. Deeply rooted in Indian classical music and traditional Rajasthani repertoire, she also collaborates with European artists to create innovative fusion compositions. She performs and records in both India and Europe, having studied music under Sangeeta Arya and graduating from Rajasthan Sangeet Sansthan in 2016. Sarita also holds degrees in Arts and Hindi Literature.
Her performance journey began in 2015 at Samode Palace, Jaipur. Since then, she has toured across North India and performed with renowned artists such as Sadiq Khan Langa (Musafir) and Rajasthan Roots. Internationally, she has collaborated with French and Iranian musicians and toured France with tabla maestro Hameed Khan Kawa. In 2019, she co-founded the Indo-European fusion duo Jaipur Junction with Dutch drummer Otto de Jong, releasing their debut album Kyon Nahin in 2020.
A passionate teacher, Sarita regularly teaches at the Kawa Cultural Center in Jaipur and offers online lessons to global students. In 2022, she completed a creative project, Kab Tak, with Belgian artist Aaricia Ponnet. Her recent 2024 tour in France featured a unique blend of sound, music, and yoga mantra, reflecting her deep commitment to musical spirituality.
